Submitted by Jacques G on August 23, 2011 - 1:23 pm 11 Comments

After taking over the two most popular WordPress security plugins: WP Security Scan and Secure WordPress, we are pleased to announce the release of WebsiteDefender WordPress Security plugin, which brings together the best features from the other two plugins into a new and more capable tool to help you secure your WordPress installation with minimum effort. In case you’re wondering, WP Security Scan and Secure WordPress will still be available, however we encourage you to take a look at the new exciting features we’ve built into WebsiteDefender WordPress Security.

Easy to use, and now easy to secure

Although the WordPress platform is well known for ease-of-use and speedy configuration, securing your website can still consume lots of precious time when one considers all the possible issues that put your site and data at risk. WebsiteDefender WordPress Security takes care of doing all the rounds by checking your WordPress installation, site files, and database, for a complete assessment and report on how to correct any security issues with the way your site is configured.

Hi, I installed this but I already have a previous plugin and it gives a fatal error. Is it ok to install when one of the previous plugins is also installed? The existing plugin from yourselves works great, only thing is it says permissions should be changed but doesn’t say which ones or where! Keep up the great work!

    Hello Jacques G,

I installed WP Security Scan a couple of days ago, and I just learned about ‘WebsiteDefender WordPress Security’ plugin which is a combination of 2 different plugins.

My question is, once I install the new ‘WebsiteDefender WordPress Security’ plugin, what kind of conflicts or problems might result with the installation-activation/deactivation process? Thanks.

    Tony

    Hi all,

Thanks for showing interest in our plugins.

@Paul – It is no problem to have both or our 3 plugins installed at the same time. Though having the latest one, WebsiteDefender WordPress Security plugin is enough since it takes the best of the other two. As regards permission, it should state which files need permission change. If you want open a new thread on our official forums; http://www.websitedefender.com/forums and we will discuss it. Developers are checking the forums daily and can reply directly to you.

@Tony – There should not be any conflicts or problems when installing the new plugin. If you do have (which I hope not) please post on our forums; http://www.websitedefender.com/forums. Our developers will reply to you in a matter of minutes.

I installed it and it has no details. Does it run right away?

@Brian What do you mean it has no details? If you have problems with the plugin I suggest you post on our forums http://www.websitedefender.com/forums

Thanks so much for this plugin. I was given a high recommendation to use both of your plugins – the Website Defender and the Security Scanner. But now I find that they have been combined.
Great tools and here’s to no hackers! Thanks a bunch.
