WebsiteDefender Improves Malware Detection

The WebsiteDefender team has released a new series of security checks and enhancements which allows the crawler to scan bigger websites, provides additional protection against malware and prevents scanning interruptions in case of any connectivity issue.
Enhanced Crawler Module
The new crawler module is more efficient and now capable of crawling larger websites. In case of connectivity disruptions, partial scan results are automatically saved and, once the connection is back, the scan will continue without restarting. Further security issues are identified due to a deeper analysis of the website or blog and better link detection.
Improved Malware Detection
WebsiteDefender checks for more malware:
1. WebsiteDefender will scan .htaccess file for any malware injected links.
2. WebsiteDefender will check the configuration files of your website or blog to detect if your website is being redirected automatically to a malware infected site via your Custom Error Responses.
Service Quality Improvements
We continuously improve our service quality to ensure smooth and efficient scanning. This time we focused on the following features:
1. TheWebsiteDefender service core is more stable, faster and consumes less bandwidth, meaning that users can benefit from a much higher speed without facing any application inconsistencies.
2. WebsiteDefender developed a reliable system that assures high-availability service for its users, even during a maintenance period.

Especially the improved malware detection is a welcome addition to the Website Defender package! I have been struck once by an exploit in ZenPhoto that altered my wordpress config files in such a way that unexpected users would be redirected to a malware infected site when an url they searched for did not exist.
I have a small personal website that I regularly monitor, but apparently not as often as needed. It’s good that Website Defender checks it regularly and notify me of important updates of plugins and such. Hope it will stay free or very affordable, especially for small non profit websites.
Thank you for using our online security service! We developed WebsiteDefender to help small businesses stay secured, so no need to worry about the cost, our service will remain very affordable
